Model and item babe Yana Gupta's been through it all in the last five years. From getting married and coming to India, to working in the glamour biz to ending her relationship and now starting fresh all over again, reportedly, with actor Aftab Shivdasani -- Yana's been there, seen it all.
Ask her about the Aftab linkup and she smiles meaningfully before skirting the issue with a quick, "I am working hard on my Hindi and it's only my work that I want to speak about." Persist further with the Aftab topic and the smile's back ...but no denials.
"Next question," says Ms Gupta.
Formerly known as Yana Synkova, the model doesn't intend to drop the 'Gupta' from her name, inspite of her marriage having ended. "Where I come from once you get married, you don't go back to your original name. And if you do so, it only means that things were very bad. Honestly, I like 'Gupta'. It's short and simple and works well for me. I don't want to revert back to Synkova," she says.
And no messing with Yana, because she's been practising boxing for a while! "It's so much fun, because all you need is a big punching bag. Then you just think of someone you really hate, and you box!" she laughs. The model is also consciously working on her Hindi. "I've been practising and learning it for a while. I think the only other language that comes even close to Hindi, in terms of being difficult is Chinese. Of course, that one's a lot harder," she confesses. So do we take it that she's now planning to enter Bollywood as a full-fledged actor? "Quite honestly, I like to think of myself as a free-lancer! So I do my number and I'm out. It's so much easier just doing one song in a film. Although it'd be foolish if a good proposal came along and I weren't prepared," she says.
